Boards & Commissions

 

There are several Boards and Commissions that serve the City. Zilwaukee has a Parks and Recreation Committee, Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Commission. All zoning and related issues are the responsibility of the seven person Planning Commission.

 

If you have an interest, desire or special qualifications which would suit you to serve on any of our boards or committees, please come to the City Hall and fill out an application. You can also download the application from the online services of this website.

 

Zoning Board of Appeals

 

Five members make up the Zoning Boards of Appeals. Zoning Board members hear appeals for variances of the Zoning Ordinance #31.

Meetings are scheduled for the 1st Wednesday at 3:00pm when business warrants.

Planning Commission

 

The Planning Commission is made up of seven members. The Planning Commission develops and maintains a Community Master Plan, oversees building projects, works closely with the Building Inspector and recommends additions and changes to the Building and Zoning Ordinance #31.

Planning Commission meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm at the City Administration Building.

Board of Review

 

Board of Review consists of three members of the community for hearing appeals of taxes.

Board of Review is generally in session around March 12th of each year – dates are published on tax assessment changes and in the newspaper.

Parks and Recreation

 

Parks and Recreation Committee consists of seven members who regulate the budget for the .25 mills collected from the taxpayers for recreation. This volunteer group oversees and facilitates things such as the free bingos, Christmas party, summer excursion’s, etc.

Parks and Recreation meetings are held at 6:00pm at the City Admin. Building.
